Hearthstone Masters Tour Arlington 2020: Championship Round
We're here in Arlington, Texas this weekend for the Hearthstone Masters Tour Arlington 2020. We've gone through hundreds of players and now we're down to two. Yet another tournament where we have an all-French final as xBlyzes battled his way from the upper half of the brackets in some nail-bitters, while AyRok made his way up from the lower half in his own close battle at the start followed by a fun round to get here. Who walks away with the Arlington trophy? Here are the results from this evening.
Championship Match: xBlyzes vs. AyRoK
We start the first game off with AyRoK choosing his Mage deck while xBlyzes went with his Warrior deck. This match started off slow and looked like it was going to be one of those matches to go all the way, but Blyzes made a couple of smart plays that made quick work of AyRoK's deck as he went up 1-0. Blyzes brought in his own Warrior deck for a mirror match as AyRoK stuck with his. For the first few rounds, again, looked like a pretty even matchup. But much like the last round, AyRoK repaid Blyzes the favor by taking away his armor and going fir direct damage to his health for a quick slaughter. Blyzes knew it was over and conceded quickly to move onto the next round for the 1-1 tie.
Round three saw Blyzes going with his Mage deck and AyRok choosing his Warrior deck, both bringing in decks that lost. AyRoK spent most of the match wearing down Blyzes' deck and taking out life whenever he had the chance until he was down to 6. But then the appearance of a Wax Dragon helped turn the tide a bit. He hammered in some damage to bring him down to single digits. AyRoK tried desperately for a minion attack, but some direct fire damage for 10 ended the match and gave Blyzes the 2-1 lead. Game four saw Blyzes bring in a Warlock deck while AyRoK brought his Mage deck. Chalk it up to it being late in the day and being excited to be in the finals, these two wasted no time throwing everything on the board and hacking away at each other's life. Within the first three minutes, they already wasted several creatures and were both below 20 life. This kept going until they were both below 15, but two cards of direct fire damage sent AyRoK to 0 as Blyzes claims the championship 3-1.
Congratulations to xBlyzes on the victory and winning the Hearthstone Masters Tour Arlington 2020!
Winner: xBlyzes (3-1)
