Iron Tides Review: Pokémon with Vikings
Crash Wave Games's Iron Tides is a pretty cute Steam indie game. Specifically, Iron Tides is another Steam indie turn based strategy game, this time with some adorable 2D exploration and Vikings. Who doesn't love Vikings? If that's still not enough for you, well, I don't know what to tell you.
Iron Tides is a pretty simple game. You get exactly what you expect out of the various game modes.
You spend your time in the game's main campaign mode managing your resources, attacking Pirate ships and bases, and picking up new Vikings to add to your collection.
It's a little bit like Viking Pokémon, if I'm being honest. And that's kind of fantastic. Because you explore a top-down two dimensional map and fight with your small team against another small team and occasionally you rescue another Pokemon and add it to your team. I mean, you rescue another Viking and add them to your crew.
You see where this is going, right?
Iron Tides is pretty much just a fun little indie Viking game — which is both its strength and its biggest weakness as a title.
