Review: Games Workshop's "Katakros" Miniature – "Age of Sigmar"
Hello loyal readers! We at Bleeding Cool got a chance to review Games Workshop's model for Katakros, Mortarch of the Necropolis and Supreme Strategist of the Ossiarch Empire* for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar!
(*: Please note that while this model's full name is indeed "Katakros, Mortarch of the Necropolis" and given the epithet of "Supreme Strategist of the Ossiarch Empire", we here at Bleeding Cool are truncating that to simply "Katakros" for the sake of the rest of the article. We have paid our bone-tithe!)
So, at first glance of the box, Katakros's model does not look like it is very tall but still appears to be one helluva centerpiece for any upstanding Ossiarch Bonereaper army, proving that centerpiece models don't need to be humongous to be cool. Katakros stands quite oppressively with his retinue, an entourage of multiple advisors and guards. This is a pretty imposing model to behold.
As always, the back of the box shows a good amount of the detail on this model, and what a model it is! It appears that Katakros has four different other models on his scenic base with him. Let's give a look at the contents of the box!
As always, the standard-issue assembly instructions. There's a warscroll in the pack, or if anyone wanted to see the rules for the Supreme Strategist of the Ossiarch Empire before buying there's always the pdf file on Games Workshop's page for the model!
And, of course, here are the components included in order to put Katakros and his entourage together. Games Workshop's page says there are 46 components to what is effectively a very detailed diorama. The base is a 120-millimeter oval base, and that is honestly sufficient – I wouldn't expect any smaller from Games Workshop when dealing with a model of this magnitude. I cannot wait to see this model on the fields of battle!
What do you think? For those of you with an Ossiarch Bonereapers army, does Katakros tickle your fancy? Do you dread seeing him on the opposing side of the battlefield? Let us know!
