Prepare to get rowdy in a whole different way as 2K Games announced today that Ronda Rousey would be joining the WWE 2K19 lineup. To be clear, Rousey will be joining the roster as a pre-order bonus character much like Rey Mysterio was announced a few weeks ago, meaning she'll probably be paid-DLC once the game is released this fall. It's the first time in the history of WWE games going all the way back to the NES days that a woman performer has been so prominently featured leading up to the release of any of their titles.
If you're a fan of Rowdy Roddy Piper, the trailer will tug at your heartstrings a bit as you're listening to a pep talk Piper had with Rousey a few years back after he gave her permission to use the name Rowdy in her name. The words are both encouraging and haunting at the same time. The two remained friends up until he passed away in 2015, and when Rousey made her debut in WWE at this year's Royal Rumble, she came down to the ring wearing Piper's iconic jacket. Since then, she's adopted his ring attire look in WWE. WWE 2K19 will be released on October 8th.
