Are We Getting A 'Secret Wars' Game Announcement From Marvel Soon?
It could be that Marvel is about to announce a new game based around their Secret Wars brand. Or it could be a level or expansion of an existing game. Or it could be just a trademark protection against possible incursion…
But Marvel Comics has just registered a trademark for Secret Wars as (breathe in): Downloadable electronic game software for use on mobile phones and handheld computers; video game software; computer game software and Providing computer and online games; providing games for use in connection with computers, mobile computers, media players, cellular phones, wireless devices, and portable and handheld digital electronic devices; providing information relating to online games via global computer networks and electronic communication networks; providing an online entertainment information service featuring information regarding computer games, enhancements for computer games, online games, and game applications via global computer networks and electronic communication networks; providing temporary use of non-downloadable computer and online games; providing temporary use of non-downloadable software for playing computer and online games; providing temporary use of non-downloadable software to enable playing and otherwise providing computer and online games; providing interactive websites and applications featuring computer and online games and non-downloadable games. Whew.
Secret Wars was originally an '80s limited series, Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars based around a licensed toyline by Mattel and featuring the biggest Marvel heroes and villains duking it out on an alien planet created from other planets.
It was recently revived as a new Secret Wars comic book event that saw a planet created by surviving realities, and heroes and villains from parallel universes duking it out.
Which version of Secret Wars will this new game/expansion/level reflect? And will Doctor Doom have a nose or not? We'll just have to wait and see.
