If Society Was Iron Chef: Trying Out 'Battle Chef Brigade' At PAX West
It's always awesome to see Adult Swim Games at a convention as they're one of the more laid back groups who pop in and show you what they got because they know they got some cool oddball titles that people will generally like because they're not what you'd expect. So it was nice to kick back in their '70s looking game lounge and try out their latest title on the way called Battle Chef Brigade. If you're thinking this is going to be like other cooking games, got great news for you, it isn't! In fact, it feels like developer Trinket Studios went out of their way to create a Nintendo Switch game that had very little to do with cooking.
Battle Chef Brigade puts you in the role of a young woman who is slowly becoming a master chef in a culture where everything is based on food. You will hack-n-slash for part of the game as you hunt down food to gather ingredients. Then when you bring them in to mix them you play a weird Puyo Puyo hybrid to make your ingredients work together and taste better. I had a lot of fun playing this title, and it makes perfect sense for it to be a Switch title. I'm kind of intrigued to see how they pitch the game moving forward as it's also set for a PS4 and Steam release sometime this holiday season.
