'Star Wars: Legion' Expansions Shine Light on Unit Details

The fine folks at Fantasy Flight Games just announced the Clone Wars expansion for their Star Wars: Legion game, and we saw a few pics of some of the new figures that will be included in the game. Now, we have an even better idea of what those figures are going to look like with due to the Clone Wars Expansions!

Bred from the same genetic template, Phase I Clone Troopers share a bond that cannot be replicated by the Separatist's B1 Battle Droids. Thanks to the close connection they share with one another and the Jedi that lead them into battle, these troopers have become renowned for their resolve and dedication. They will always have the backs of their fellow troops and will often join together to provide critical fire support to repel a Separatist attack or push one step closer to a critical objective.

Right off the bat, you're probably going to need at least one of these boxes to play a full 800 point game of Legion, as the starter box will probably only come with 2 units total, and you need three base units of troops for a legal game. Still, that shouldn't be a problem, because these figures rock the world with grace and wisdom.

You'll get 7 new troopers in the Phase 1 Clone Troopers Unit Expansion, which includes the  Z-6 Phase I Trooper and a DC-15 Phase I Trooper. It looks like the Clones will be attacking with a black attack die, and using a red armor die, so they shoot like rebels and defend like Stormtroopers… interesting! And seeing all of these together has me really wanting to watch Clone Wars again!

The Republic's Clone Troopers may be bred for battle, but even the finest soldiers eventually break under the crushing weight of legions of B1 Battle Droids. Despite possessing little cunning or tactical intelligence, these droids march heedlessly forward to crush any resistance through raw attrition alone. Mindlessly loyal and eminently expendable, the Separatist Alliance has few qualms about sacrificing endless waves of B1 Battle Droids to subdue a planet.

You're probably going to need an extra box of these on top of the starter, too, since you need 3 units of basic troops to play.  The basic Battle Droid shoots with a white attack die, and defends with a white armor die, so they're going to get mowed down in scores- but there's a lot of them in a box!

You'll get 9 clankers for your hard earned cash, though, and these mechanical menaces come on a sprue, so you'll have to assemble them- which is great news to crazed customizers like me! You'll be getting two heavy weapons troopers, too, so you can launch rockets at everything!

The Clone Wars expansion for Star Wars: Legion has been developed with inter-playability with the existing factions in mind, so you can have your Empire troops face off against a long-lost phalanx of droids. I seriously can't wait! Look for the Clone Wars era core box for Star Wars: Legion, as well as these unit expansions, in the third quarter of 2019.
