State of Decay 2 has Garnered 2 Million Players So Far
Microsoft has announced that State of Decay 2 is doing quite well, accumulating around 2 million players in just under two weeks of release.
The performance of State of Decay 2 was always going to be an interesting one. The game is built on two concepts that were huge a few years ago but have now begun to slowly wain: zombies and survival games. Both are pretty tired at this point, with the public zeitgeist has seemingly moved on, so seeing how much interest the title could find itself was always a question.
Well, according to Microsoft, the game is doing fine. In a post on Xbox Wire, the company announced that the game has garnered around 2 million players in less than 2 weeks. That is around as much as Sea of Thieves did on its release, showing that there certainly is a decent audience for the game. In the post, Microsoft said it would continue to work on patching the game and listening to player feedback.
The entire team has been working hard to bring all 2 million players lots of key fixes, gameplay tune-ups, and quality of life improvements with our latest game patch released last Friday. We are always listening to our fans to improve the game experience, and we will continue to bring updates and additional content as you explore all that State of Decay 2 has to offer.
Now, bear in mind, this isn't 2 million copies sold. The Xbox Game Pass gave subscribers to the service access to the game the day it was out. It's impossible to know how those numbers split without Microsoft saying so, but regardless, it seems the game has a pretty healthy community right now.
