Stealth Killing Extremes in Disjunction at PAX East 2019
During our second day at PAX East, we paid a visit to Ape Tribe Games who brought with them a stealth-action RPG game called Disjunction. This game put you in a cyberpunk future where you will head into levels using a combination of stealth, gunwork, and a couple of tricks of the trade to get through areas filled with enemies while picking up items as you go. If you're the kind of player who hates stealth, this will be the bane of your existence as you will need to use it for about half of your time getting around. Sure, you can go in guns blazing, but more often than not it will be your downfall as gunfire attracts unwanted attention. You'll use a combination of all the tools at your disposal to make it to the end.
In the demo I played, I was able to make it through the game in a couple areas without firing a shot. But when push came to shove and I had to take people out, I was able to do so with ease as the game uses a WASD control for movement and your mouse for targeting and firing. I enjoyed the old-school look of it, and the presentation was alright, I just wish I could have customized the characters better than what I had. But you know, it's a demo, you don't have access to all the toys yet, so I have to take that part with a grain of salt. Right now the devs have Disjunction set for a 2019 release, but no further information was given at the convention. Wouldn't surprise me if we saw it again at PAX West before a release date announcement.
