Take-Two Interactive Dumps an Old Trademark on an Unreleased PS3 Game

Does anyone out there remember the game Agent? Or at least, the concept for it? We do, and it's funny we're still discussing it in 2018. Clear back in 2009, Sony announced that the game would be coming to the PS3 at E3, being developed by Rockstar Games and released by Take-Two Interactive. But in the entire time the company owned the trademark, nothing came of the game. So it shouldn't shock anyone that the game's trademark has expired, due to the fact that neither company bothered to have an extension filed on it.

To this day, it's become a bit of a mystery and a joke in the industry, one of the earliest examples of "Development Hell" where a company announces a game and it never comes to fruition. In fact, the only evidence Agent was in development rests on links for both Rockstar and Take-Two, as well as a Reddit post showing off assets, but even that info barely says anything about the game. Will someone else take up the IP now that it's free, maybe even purchase the assets to work on it? Probably not. And let's be honest, knowing Rockstar's track record, Agent was probably just going to be a James Bond/Cold War version of GTA. So while it sucks we didn't get to see it, I'm willing to bet a lot of the ideas for it ended up in GTA Online later on.
