Doom Won't Have Co-Op Multiplayer Support In Campaign
There isn't too much to elaborate on here, so lets just get to the important stuff.
When speaking to PC Gamer at QuakeCon, Doom's Executive Producer Marty Stratton confirmed that the game wouldn't feature co-op support for the single player campaign. I wouldn't expect it too either since the franchise isn't exactly known for it, but hey, it is good to know.
Stratton did however posit that a co-op campaign of sorts could be made in the level creator tol SnapMap:
Yes. In a sense. You create a level experience, and then to create a campaign-type thing you would link those [levels] together in, like, a playlist.
You wouldn't necessarily carry weapons from one level to the next. The author could set it up knowing you have this set of weapons as you go into this next component. It's little bit more like a playlist.
That doesn't exactly sound all that thrilling unless the tool has decent narrative options. Yes, for now it seems you will be trudging through Hell alone unfortunately.
