EA Exec Say Most People Probably Would Have Ignored Single Player In Star Wars: Battlefront
There has been a cautious feeling surrounding Star Wars: Battlefront since it was announced that the game wouldn't have a dedicated single player campaign. A lot of Star Wars fans, who don't love online FPS's are feeling left in the dark, except for certain 'missions' you can do on your own.
Well, EA COO Peter Moore has weighed in on this discussion in an interview with GameSpot recently. When asked if he regrets the game not having a dedicated single player campaign, since games that do typically sell better, he replied:
So, there's two phenomena with that statement. The first is that yes, you might be right. The second is that very few people actually play the single-player on these kinds of games. That's what the data points to.
While I do believe he might be right about that in terms of online FPSs like Call of Duty or Battlefield, it does sound a little strange when talking about a Star Wars game. That franchise, while certainly not devoid of action, is defined by its narrative structure. With Episode VII coming out too, I'm sure people would have dug into a Star Wars campaign ravenously.
Having said that, the game probably wouldn't be coming out this year if it did have a single player campaign, so I suppose it swings in roundabouts.
