GameStop CEO Says PlayStation VR Has The 'Strongest Title Count' At Launch
The VR marketing machine is most certainly picking up now. We're not so far away now to these headsets being shipped and the talk is all about which of the three premium headsets, the Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR or the Vive, will come out on top.
One of the things that will dictate that will be each's library. At the ICR Conference 2016 (via Gamespot), Gamestop CEO Paul Raines has weighed in on which he thinks will have that all important launch library. Siding with the PlayStation VR, Raines said:
The more important thing will be the title count at launch. I think that's going to be big. And from what we can see at this point, Sony seems to have the strongest title count.
When we are talking strictly curated content here, he is probably absolutely right. PlayStation VR will have that. However, he is also selling short the PC VR mod community that is constantly creating new experiences and retro-fitting older ones. Also, PC has never been a big seller for GameStop so it would make sense for Raines to throw his lot in with Sony.
As for which one actually has the best quality launch, we might have to take a wait and see approach.
