Mirror's Edge Catalyst Delayed To May
Mirror's Edge Catalyst will see the series make what some might call an 'unlikely return'. The divisive first game had passionate fans, but it was thought it never quite made the sales to earn a new instalment. Although, that fanbase was very happy when the prequel/reboot was announced earlier this year.
Those fans will be waiting a little longer than expected though. In an update, Producer Sara Jansson said that that the game would now be debuting May 24th, rather than previous February date. In the post, she said:
Years ago, we set out an ambitious vision for Mirror's Edge™ Catalyst. Achieving that vision and delivering the best possible experience is equally inspiring and challenging. And it takes time. We set out to create a vast city to explore, full of stunning vistas, majestic skyscrapers, and mysterious tunnels. We're building the most immersive action-adventure game with fluid movement and combat in first person. Mirror's Edge Catalyst will be an all-new playground with a deeper and more engaging story – and we want to accomplish all these goals to the highest quality possible.
Previously, the game was slated to be coming on the exact same day as Far Cry: Primal and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Even if this wasn't motivated by scheduling, it does feel like the game dodged a bullet somewhat. Giving it more time to breathe is no bad thing.
