PlayStation 4 Reaches 25.3 Million Consoles Sold
The PlayStation 4 has been selling ludicrously since it was released way back in 2013. It has eclipsed the PlayStation 3 in the same period by a long margin, and this was at a time when people thought console gaming was dying.
That steam train continues to barrel on too as Sony announced that the total lifetime sales of the console has reached 25.3 million sold. In just the last quarter, 3 million consoles were solid, more than double the Xbox One which sold 1.4 million in the same period. This is up over the 2.7 million consoles sold in the same period last year. Sony now expect the PlayStation 4 to sell 16.5 million this year.
At somepoint, you have to figure that sales for this consoles will drop off, but at the moment, it is only gaining speed. Demand for this thing is off that charts and we are yet to find the ceiling yet. That is kind of exciting.
