New Report Claims Baron Corbin's Push Was Killed Because He Called Out WWE Doctor About Concussions

Previously, the best reason anyone could come up with for why Baron Corbin's push was killed was that WWE was embarrassed of his receding hairline. Some had speculated that Corbin was in hot water for his social media behavior or failing to impress John Cena, after Corbin lost his Money in the Bank briefcase in a 10-second match with Jinder Mahal and then lost unspectacularly to Cena at SummerSlam. Then, when it appeared that WWE photoshopped Corbin's hair on a commemorative plaque, it seemed to point toward Corbin's follicle difficulties as the source of his backstage heat.

However, a new report from PWInsider (via 411 Wrestling) sheds more light on the situation. According to that report, Corbin interrupted a meeting backstage in August to call out Dr. Joseph Maroon, the head of WWE's Wellness policy. Corbin is a former NFL player who is currently involved in a lawsuit against the league about concussions, and when Maroon tried to talk to WWE talent about the importance of reporting concussion-related injuries, Corbin argued with him about his past stance. Maroon was portrayed negatively in the Will Smith film Concussion as one of the NFL doctors attempting to deny the connection between concussions and CTE.

Witnesses described the situation as highly awkward, as the entire meeting was derailed by Corbin and Maroon's argument. And shortly after that, Corbin lost his briefcase and his big match with John Cena.

So do we finally have the answer? Honestly, we still think it's the hair thing.
