You Can Finally Get A Subscription For PlayStation Now

PlayStation Now is a step towards the future in the games industry. The service allows users to stream games from Sony's own servers directly onto their PlayStation 4. This includes a lot of PlayStation 3 classics like Uncharted and The Last of Us. In theory, very soon you will be able to stream directly onto devices that aren't even your PlayStation 4. Your TV, tablet, hell, even your mobile phone could become a games console with a huge library. Everyone is scrambling for cloud gaming at the moment, and Sony were the first huge company to really back it.

Sounds like that would mean they've cornered the market, right? Unfortunately it hasn't turned out like that.

When the service launched last year, you had to pay an extortionate amount for a couple hours of play with a game. In some cases, it might be cheaper to buy the game than rent it for 3 hours. The whole thing was pretty badly handled, showing that we had some way to go before cloud streaming became an industry norm.

Well, Sony have made an important step towards that norm. Instead of just renting the games, you can now subscribe to PlayStation Now for $19.99 a month (Or 44.99 for three). That is still pretty steep and I think we are a long way off of everyone subscribing, but it is a move forward.  That subscription will give you access to over 100+ titles to stream directly onto your PlayStation 4. As stated above, in time, you may not even need your console.

The subscription will launch on January 13th. You'll need a pretty solid internet connection. No worries though. You'll be able to test it out with a 7 day free trial on launch.

You can check out the full list of games available here. There are actually some gems here. I'll be giving the service a go.
