Co-Writer And Krampus Director In Talks To Direct Godzilla 2
Just yesterday I reported that Michael Dougherty and Zach Shields had been brought on to write the Godzilla sequel. Well, things are apparently moving fast on that.
ScreenCrush are reporting that Dougherty is in talks to direct the film too. They report that the Krampus and Trick r' Treat director isn't confirmed, and in an update they stated it will depend on approval of their script, but also that Legendary Pictures are quite fond of the director.
This would be a huge jump up in directing terms for the writer/director, but he has had hands in Superman Returns, X-Men 2 and X-Men: Apocalypse stories too, so the scale shouldn't be too much. I'd dig this direction too. Dougherty is clearly a really fun and inventive director. Seeing him run wild on such a huge scale could be great.
