Composer Alan Silvestri Says 'Avengers: Infinity War' Will Be "Everything We Could Have Hoped For."
Composer Alan Silvestri was honored with an Icon Honor at BMI Film, TV and Visual Awards on Wednesday. Silverstri, a veteran of the business who has composed works for Forest Gump, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit, talked to Variety before the ceremony.
"I did my first film in 1972, so it's been 45 years. I never thought I would do this," he said, referring to a career scoring movies. "I'm really looking at tonight as a chance to publicly thank a small group of people who have been so instrumental in my being here."
Variety asked Silvestri about his next project which is a certain team-up movie that has a budget of a billion dollars.
He has already begun writing the music for the next "Avengers" movie, "Infinity War," which he is slated to record in January 2018. He said he has already seen footage of the next installment and "it's everything we could have hoped for."
To say that expectations are high for Avengers: Infinity War would be an understatement but that's some high praise coming from two time Oscar nominated composer. Silvestri isn't keen to retire anytime soon and is just as in love with the music as he always has been.
I'm still interested in music. I'm still smitten by the development of technology in our business, and what it has provided in terms of possibilities to find new sounds and new ways to bring organized musical content to our work. I'm still enthusiastic. All the elements of film composing are still fascinating and motivating for me."
Avengers: Infinity War will be released on May 4, 2018 and Untitled Avengers Movie will be released on May 3, 2019.
