Dwayne Johnson's Daughter Refuses To Believe He Is Maui In Moana
Dwayne Johnson has been posting regular updates to his social media accounts detailing his quarantine life. One particular posting on his Instagram account has led to a hilarious result: his two-year-old daughter refuses to believe that her dad is actually the person who voices Maui in Disney's Moana from 2016. He routinely talks about singing the song "You're Welcome" to her and explaining to her that he, Dwayne Johnson, is, in fact, Maui. She shuts him down, though, and it is maybe the cutest thing you will ever see. Check out the post from his Instagram down below and try not to smile. "She still refuses to believe the urban legend that her daddy is actually, Maui," writes Johnson.
Dwayne Johnson Was the Perfect Maui
Moana may be the best Disney film of the last 20 years. That seems like a strong statement, but look at the facts: it has an amazing voice cast, including Jemaine Clement, Rachel House, Temuera Morrison, Nicole Scherzinger, Auli'i Cravalho and of course Dwayne Johnson. The songs were co-written by Mark Mancina and Tokelauan singer-songwriter Opetaia Foa'i, and oh yeah, some dude named Lin-Manuel Miranda. Not just "You're Welcome", but all of the amazing music in the film, some of the best in the Disney catalog. The messages in the movie about finding your own path and embracing the past of your people are more important than ever these days. Plus: it just looks freaking gorgeous.
It would be super weird to find out that your dad or mom was a voice in a Disney film. Even at such a young age, it would be kind of mind-blowing. That her dad is Dwayne Johnson is cool, to begin with. What a lucky kid. Hang in there, Dwayne; maybe it will only take 3,000 more tries to make her understand. The good news is that it will be super fun trying.
