Facebook Orders Second Original Series Last State Standing
Facebook is pushing on into the original content business by inking a deal with American Ninja Warrior producers A. Smith and Co for a new original reality series, Last State Standing. THR.com is reporting that little has been revealed about the game, but it will include 50 contestants, one form each state, competing in unique and crazy games for a chance at $500,000 in cash. Production is said to have already begun in Los Angeles.
Yesterday it was reported that the social media giant had revived the cancelled MTV series Loosely Exactly Nicole, a scripted comedy from Nicole Byer. The series was developed for MTV by Mina Lefevre how has since moved over to be head of development for… you guessed it… Facebook. MTV is no longer involved in the series.
Facebook is said to be looking for two types of series, shortform series from digital producers like Buzzfeed and Vox Media, and television quality series that the company would have full ownership of and would spend up to six figures per episode on.
Premiere date, episode count and rollout plan have yet to be determined.
