Here's Your Twice Yearly Reminder That Channing Tatum's Gambit Movie Is Supposedly Still Happening
In an alternate universe, sexy heartthrob Channing Tatum would have managed to get his X-Men spinoff film (originally scheduled for a 2016 release) about a cult favorite character who rose to comics prominence in the 1990s, possibly snagged an R-Rating, and ended up with one of the biggest superhero hits of all time with Gambit. In this universe, however, sexy heartthrob Ryan Reynolds did that exact same thing with Deadpool, and, well, you snooze, you lose, Tatum.
Channing Tatum refuses to give up the dream though. Apparently, Fox X-producer Lauren Shuler Donner says Tatum will still star in a movie about Gambit, god dammit, in the totally real movie that will one day come out, like, for realz. Director Doug Liman is apparently still attached as well, or at least, he hasn't announced his departure. Back in August, Simon Kinberg expressed hope that the movie wouldn't take ten years to make, but the clock is ticking, Kinberg.
Well, we wish Channing Tatum and his rock hard, chiseled ab muscles the best in bringing his favorite X-character to life in a big budget solo film… but we'll believe it when we see it.
