James Ellsworth Is Now The Hottest Free Agent In Wrestling
There's a new free agent on the scene in pro wrestling, and any promoter with two hands and a contract has a chance to sign him! James Ellsworth was released by WWE Wednesday, with the company releasing the following statement:
WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar James Ellsworth. WWE wishes Ellsworth the best in all of his future endeavors.
Ellsworth, a ring veteran who started his career in 2002, started doing some work for WWE as one of Adam Rose's Rosebuds before a pre-squash-match interview featuring Ellsworth went viral. Ellsworth, working as a jobber against Braun Strowman, famously said, "Any man with two hands has a fighting chance." And thanks to the response to his interview, Ellsworth soon earned himself a WWE contract.
Ellsworth was involved in a WWE Championship feud between Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles, which included defeating Styles twice, and eventually challenging Styles for the WWE Championship after a heel turn. Ellsworth later moved on to the women's division as a valet for Carmella, and helped her to win the Money in the Bank contract in the first ever women's Money in the Bank match.
He ended his career being beaten up by the Smackdown women's division during a tour of Europe, putting others over on his way out like a consummate professional.
In response to the release, Ellsworth tweeted:
