Joe Russo Gave Tom Holland a Fake Avengers: Infinity War Script

The running joke when it comes to actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and spoilers is that Tom Holland can't keep a secret to save his life. If there was ever an actor that was going to prove that the Marvel snipers actually exist, it would be him. Joe Russo, one of the directors of Avengers: Infinity War, recently told BBC Radio Scotland his way around that: he gave Holland a fake script.

"Tom's had a couple of slip ups in the past, he's on the black list now," Russo said. "We wrote fake scripts, we wrote a really fake script for Tom Holland."

While that is hilariously over-the-top, Holland wasn't the only one that didn't know anything about the movie.

"They were all kept in the dark," Russo explained. "They trust us enough that they understand their motivations on set, we can give them enough of a hint as to where they're coming from and where they're going. A lot of it is relationship-based so it's just about behaving truthfully when they're on camera together and the objectives of each scene are contained in the scene. There's no reason for anyone to know the overall goal of the villain other than my brother and I."

This press tour has been kind of hilarious, because we're getting a look at how movies might be made in the future. As spoilers get worse and worse, studios are going to go to even further extremes to keep everything under wraps. Red carpets are going to turn into this weird standoff between talent and journalists where no one knows anything but we need to establish some sort dialogue for content.
