Kelly Sue DeConnick, Writing For Wizard Of Oz NBC TV Show, Emerald City

Bleeding Cool reported earlier on the Milkfed panel at Heroes Con with the launch of their new website. But there was more to come. Jonathan Rich writes,

Comic book writer Kelly Sue DeConnick had a TV announcement to make at HeroesCon, that she has worked on episodes of Emerald City, the upcoming fall NBC show based on Wizard Of Oz.

"I got to write for Vincent D'Onofrio," she excitedly told the crowd, revealing the actor's character will be of that universe's version of the Wizard. "It is a stunningly beautiful take on that world where Dorothy has a machine gun and Toto is a German Shephard."

"Apparently, this is not subtle Kingpin in Daredevil acting Vincent D'Onofrio," Fraction interjected. "This is Daniel Day Lewis big-acting Vincent D'Onofrio."

DeConnick also got to meet a childhood idol in the actor and former 70s teen idol Shaun Cassidy.

"It's hard to be cool when he is in the room," she admitted. "It turns out he is a super nice guy, but I had to watch myself when he went to answer the phone and he said 'Mom?' and I knew that was Shirley Jones from The Partridge Family."

More to come…
