Kingdom Hearts 3 Might Feature An Online Multiplayer Component
Kingdom Hearts 3 is known for its genre mixing and clever franchise integration. It also has a pretty complex lore from what I understand. My point being that this has been thought of as a strong single player franchise.
That could change in Kingdom Hearts 3 though. Speaking to Engadget, series director Tetsuya Nomura expressed an interest in bringing the game online. He said:
Online is certainly part of my wish list — we want gamers to play for a while and an online component helps this.
He did alleviate fears that this could be underwhelming and ill-thought out a little though by saying:
We may be focusing on the main campaign at the moment, but it's not as if we're going to tack on an online function at the end. In fact, we've already got plenty of ideas brewing at the moment. However, we're still not at the point where we can test these ideas inside the main game.
At the moment, it's basically impossible to say if this is a good or bad thing. Until we get a sense for what this is, it's hard to say this is needless or will be underwhelming. I err on the side of patience on this one.
