LEGO Dimensions Confirms Toys-To-Life Game Featuring Batman And Gandalf
Parents, watch your wallets. It looks like it's really happening. Last month, we caught wind that LEGO was working on a toys-to-life game and today it has been confirmed by the company, but not before it leaked online first.
Reddit user Simpsons_Fan posted up the art work above as well as details for the game, which is titled LEGO Dimensions. This starter pack will come with the game, figures of Gandalf, Batman and Wyldstyle, a Batmobile and bricks to construct a portal. The game is unsurprisingly being put together by long time LEGO veterans TT Games.
The user also posted up this synopsis for the game:
When a mysterious and powerful vortex suddenly appears in various LEGO® worlds, different characters from DC Comics, Lord of the Rings and the LEGO Movie are swept away. To save their friends, Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle bravely jump into the vortex to rescue their friends and fight to save all of LEGO humanity.
Let your creativity be your guide as you build the LEGO Gateway to adventure, journeying through unexpected worlds and teaming-up with unlikely allies on the quest to defeat the evil Lord Vortech. Play with characters you never thought you could see in a LEGO game together, using vehicles and weapons you never thought possible. LEGO Bad Cop driving the DeLorean Time Machine: why not?! The Ninjago Masters of Spinjitsu fighting alongside Wonder Woman … yes, please! Get ready to break the rules, because the only rule with LEGO Dimensions is that there are no rules.
The LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack is all you need to begin – build your base and embark on a fantastic quest.
The cross-franchise reach here really seems like the huge hook here. This really is like a toy-box come to life.
LEGO have now put the trailer on the internet too, which features Joel McHale as a human and Will Arnett and Elizabeth Banks as their Lego Movie counterparts. I assume this means they will reprise their roles in the game.

The game is coming to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U for the steep price of $99.99. That really is a huge buy-in price. If people can get over that though, this could be really huge.
One thing is for sure though. Disney Infinity and Skylanders really do have a new competitor to think seriously about now.
