Lionsgate Tackling Good Girls Gone Bad In New Horror Adaptation The Merciless

the-merciless Marlene King knows a thing or two about cliquely high school girls who get into dangerous things beyond their control as the showrunner of ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars, so Lionsgate probably know what they're doing as they hand her the adaptation of The Merciless, which is a new novel that tackles similar things and which is now headed for the big screen.

Deadline reports that the film will follow a new girl in school who is accepted into her new school's popular clique, only to regret it when they rope her into helping them with performing an "exorcism" on a fellow classmate. Only their brand of "exorcism" seems more like torture and she can't get out of it or she'll be next.

King will adapt the Danielle Vega novel, which comes out on June 12th, and produce.
