Lionsgate has finally released a new trailer for Megalopolis after the first one had to be taken down because it featured fake quotes from prominent critics. It appears that everyone involved decided the easiest thing to do would be to cut all of those fake quotes and pretty much keep the trailer the same as it was. So, money well spent on the marketing as always. The beginning still has the self-aggrandizing "one filmmaker has always been ahead of his time," which still feels so weird considering Francis Ford Coppola is footing the marketing bill for this film, but here we are. This trailer is still doing a very poor job of trying to pitch this film to someone who has no idea what it is and making its main selling point: "If you watch this in theaters, you'll be able to tell people you did someday and that will make you cool." We also got a new IMAX poster.

Megalopolis is a Roman Epic fable set in an imagined Modern America. The City of New Rome must change, causing conflict between Cesar Catilina, a genius artist who seeks to leap into a utopian, idealistic future, and his opposition, Mayor Franklyn Cicero, who remains committed to a regressive status quo, perpetuating greed, special interests, and partisan warfare. Torn between them is socialite Julia Cicero, the mayor's daughter, whose love for Cesar has divided her loyalties, forcing her to discover what she truly believes humanity deserves. Written, produced, and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, the film is produced by Fred Roos, Barry Hirsch, and Michael Bederman, and executive produced by Anahid Nazarian, Barrie Osborne, and Darren Demetre. Megalopolis will be released in theaters on September 27th.
