X-Men: New Mutants Director Confirms That Filming Begins Today
The kids are in the house — or rather, the New Mutants are. We have three very different X-Men movies coming out next year, and the first off the slate is X-Men: New Mutants. The cast got together over the 4th of July weekend to hang out together, but director Josh Boone confirmed that filming is going to start today with an absolutely amazing gag gift:
The little that we do know about this movie is interesting. It's going to be based on the Demon Bear story and the movie is going the horror route. We haven't seen that in a modern-day superhero movie yet, and this genre is perfect for blending different genres.
The idea of three X-Men movies in a year sounds headache-inducing, if they were all going to be like X-Men: Apocalypse. But it looks like that isn't the case. X-Men: Dark Phoenix is looking more and more like it's going to be an insane space adventure, Deadpool 2 is the R-rated comedy, and New Mutants will be the horror movie. Now three X-Men movies doesn't sound so exhausting.
Star Henry Zaga took a bunch of pictures when the cast was hanging out over the 4th in Boston. It looks like this cast gets along and have fun together, which is important. We need to believe these kids basically grew up together at a boarding school, so chemistry is important.
