New 'Wonder Woman' Images And What Was The Thing That Convinced The Studio A Female Lead Could Sell

Wonder WomanWe have already looked at the images for the two Empire Magazine covers of Wonder Woman but the images and various bits of information within the magazine have been released. There is a lot of information in there but one the most interesting is the reason why it took this long for this movie to be made. Director Patty Jenkins pitched Warner Bros a Wonder Woman movie ten years ago but they weren't confident that it could make money. Producer Deborah Snyder says that female lead franchises like The Hunger Games are the reason that studios were finally able to see that there was an audience for a Wonder Woman movie. However, The Hunger Games wouldn't exist if Twilight hadn't come and paved the way for the female lead series to dominate the box office. While no one wants to admit it we really have to thank Twilight for bringing us the slew of female driven series despite how anti-woman that series actually was.

Jenkins also revealed that she was hesitant to take on a project where the lead was already cast but quickly fell in love with Gal Gadot, it was Zach Snyder's idea to bring Wonder Woman into Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and that Gadot was one of the final five in the running for the role and everyone was rooting for her to get it.

"I don't know that I ever would have thought to look all over the world, but thank God they did and thank God it's her," Jenkins said.

Gadot also didn't find out that she had her own solo movie until the very end of the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice shoot.

"I think they were still auditioning me while I was doing the movie," she said with a smile.

wonder-woman-novelThe junior novelization of the movie has gone up on Amazon set to come out on May 30th. It will be written by Steve Korte and the summary doesn't really tell us anything new about the movie.

To the outside world, Diana Prince is just a regular woman. But that's not who she truly is. Diana is an Amazon princess from the island of Themyscira. She is also Wonder Woman. From a secret hidden island to the frontlines of battle, Diana is ready for the role of a lifetime—to become the hero the world needs most.

Based on the major motion picture, this hardcover edition of Wonder Woman: The Junior Novel retells the exciting story of Diana's journey to become one of the world's greatest heroes and features eight pages of full-color images from the film.

Wonder Woman will be released on June 2, 2017 and we would really appreciate if it didn't suck. That isn't asking for a lot.
