Nicole Kidman Could Be Aquaman's Movie Mom; Will Her Name Be Martha?

Following up on reports that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is in early talks to play Black Manta in Aquaman, THR is reporting now that Nicole Kidman is also in talks to join the cast. Kidman would play Aquaman's mother, or Aquamom, in the movie. Aquaman is the son of a human father and Atlantean outcast mother, Atlanna (name subject to change), in the comics, so Kidman's talent of breathing underwater and communicating telepathically with sea creatures will come in handy along with her Oscar-winning acting chops. The movie, directed by James Wan, is getting set to film in April, so the cast needs to be finalized by then.

This won't be Kidman's first stint in the DC Cinematic Universe. She also starred in 1995's Batman Forever, pictured above. Bleeding Cool apologizes for reminding you it exists.

Starring Jason Momoa, Aquaman will hit theaters in October, 2018.
