NYCC – Adult Swim Edition: Black Dynamite

Matt Lambros writes for Bleeding Cool:

The "Black Dynamite" panel started with a showing of the first episode of season two, "Roots: The Honkey Album." The panel was moderated by comedian Hugh Moore, and the panelists were Carl Jones (producer), Scott Fuselier (producer), Michael Jai White (voice of Black Dynamite), Tommy Davidson (voice of Cream Corn), Kym Whitley (voice of Honeybee), and Byron Minns (voice of Bullhorn).

mlambrosBD-1Moore opened the panel up to audience Q&A immediately after introducing the panelists.

Carl Jones said the first season was experimental, and that this season will be more controversial, like the first season's Michael Jackson episode. (Michael Jackson is revealed to be an alien who controls his family). When asked if this season would have any guest stars from the 70s, the panel replied that Melvin Peebles, creator of Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song, which is credited with starting the blaxploitation movement would be on an episode this season and that Samuel L. Jackson will also voicing a character this season.

mlambrosBD-2A questioner asked the producers how they come up with ideas for episodes, Carl Jones responded that they first come up with a tagline. "Albino black guy named Honky Kong. There's an episode right there." He also said that they had so many ideas during season one they saved a number of them for season two.

mlambrosBD-3They're working on another live action movie, but it will not be a direct sequel to "Black Dynamite." Instead it will be a horror blaxploitation film. It will be the second part of a thematically connected trilogy along with "Black Dynamite," with a third film to follow.

"Black Dynamite" season two premieres on October 18, 2014 at 10:30PM on Adult Swim.
