PlayStation Open Up About How They Acquired Call Of Duty DLC Priority
Call of Duty has always been seen as a Microsoft game. It was a show piece of their E3 press conferences the last few rotations, but this year was different. It became clear that Call of Duty jumped ship once Black Ops III turned up at Sony's conference instead and it was announced that now Playstation would get priority over DLC.
Speaking to GameSpot, PlayStation's Adam Boyes said the deal came to be after the console's relationship with Activision on Destiny. Once he got his hands on Black Ops III he said:
We fell in love instantly.
As soon as I started playing it, I said, 'This feels incredible! You can wallride!' It's just so smooth; it's almost like poetic. And so obviously, we just continued talking with our partners at Activision and worked something out. And now we've got I think a great benefit to all the gamers.
Honestly, I think this was probably a pick up from Microsoft. My guess is that Microsoft didn't front the money and let their previous deal slip to Sony. I also don't think this is anywhere near as important as it was even three years. While the franchise is still important, it doesn't dominate the landscape like it used to. It will be interesting to see if this Sony deal means anything in the long run.
