Todd Phillips Confirms That the Joker Movie Has Wrapped Production
There are a lot of unknowns with the DC slate right now, but one of the biggest ones might be the Todd Phillips-directed Joker movie. At the moment we know almost nothing about the project other than what we can glean from casting. We got a look at star Joaquin Phoenix as the title character thanks to Phillips instagram account but besides that and some set photos, we don't have much to go on. What we do know now is that the production has officially wrapped according to Phillips' instagram.
We likely have several months before we learn anything about this project, including a title. There's a decent chance we'll get a title and poster sometime in the spring and then perhaps footage of some kind during the 2019 Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con. This movie is the test to see if audiences and DC can pull off an "Elsewords" type of movie. If this movie does well we can expect a lot more elseworld type spin-offs in the future.
The Untitled Joker Movie / The Joker, directed by Todd Phillips, will star Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, and Shea Whigham. It will be released on October 4th, 2019.
