Tom Hanks And Steven Spielberg Could Reteam For Cold War Thriller

Add another potential project to Steven Spielberg's plate, and another potential reunion as well. The Film Stage reported, and the trades are now backing up, that Spielberg is interested in directing an untitled Cold War thriller that is set up at Dreamworks.

While TFS reported Spielberg had been meeting with Daniel Day Lewis about starring in the film, trades like Variety are now saying Tom Hanks is actually likely to be the star of this Matt Charman scripted project.

If everything comes together, Hanks will play James Donovan, a real life figure who was "an American attorney who become an integral part of the Cold War when asked by the CIA to cross the Berlin Wall to rescue a POW."

There's still no concrete word yet on which project Spielberg will direct next, and now it seems to be a race between this one, ancient war epic Montezuma and sci-fi actioner Robopocalypse.
