The Trailer For The 'Death Wish' Remake Could Not Be More Generic
When the first look at the new Death Wish remake brought to us by Eli Roth dropped yesterday the world didn't seem to react much. We'd only seen four images plus an interview with Roth but everything he was saying sounded like every other action movie that is out there right now. Now we have the first trailer and it looks like our instincts about this remake were right on the money.
There is not a single frame in this trailer that doesn't look like fifteen million other generic action movies that we've all seen a million times. A generic action movie can get by on charisma, fun, or inventive action scenes and this doesn't look like it's going to have any of those. There isn't anything here that convinces us this was worth remaking in the first place, aside from a blatant cash grab.
Perhaps this trailer is just poorly cut together but everything from the plot to the action scenes even to casting Bruce Willis feels like checking off boxes on the action movie checklist.
A mild-mannered father is transformed into a killing machine after his family is torn apart by a violent act.
Death Wish, directed by Eli Roth, will star Bruce Willis, Vincent D'Onofrio, Elisabeth Shue, Jack Kesy, and Dean Norris. It will be released on November 22, 2017.
