Venom 3: Juno Temple Teases A "Fun And Interesting" Filming Experience

We don't know what role Juno Temple plays in Venom 3, but she is talking about the filming experience, calling it "fun and interesting."

Article Summary

  • Juno Temple describes her intriguing on-set experience for Venom 3, hinting at VFX marvels.
  • Despite Sony's marketing stumbles, Venom 3 is poised as a major release in November 2024.
  • Tom Hardy's unique portrayal of Venom underscores Sony's solo success with the character.
  • Kelly Marcel steps up as director for Venom 3, with filming resuming post-strike delays.

Sony is currently fumbling the ball big time regarding the marketing for Madame Web, but even if they screw up that one, they have two other attempts to make a Sony/Marvel movie hit big in 2024. Madame Web is already getting meme'd to hell and back, but you can't pay the bills on memes, as Morbius can tell you. We got the first look at Kraven the Hunter last year, and people seemed pretty open to the film, even more so when the Red Band trailer came out and not judging a movie based on a blurry leaked image. That leaves Venom 3 in November, which we know almost nothing about. We are getting some new people joining the cast this time, and Juno Temple is one of those people. We don't know anything about her role yet aside from being called "lead," but Variety did ask her how filming is going and what her experience is like on set.

"I'm learning lots," Temple said. "It's fun and interesting because there are so many things that you film that, when the movie finally comes out, will look different to what they were when we were filming them. I'm excited to see the creations that happen off-camera, too."

We can only assume that the "things that look different" comment means the motion capture and VFX work that has to go into films like Venom 3 to make Venom and the other characters. So watching Tom Hardy act against a ping-pong ball on a stick is one thing, but seeing him talk to a floating head of black goo with teeth is another.

Venom 3 Is The Third Sony Marvel Movie Of 2024

Venom is the only Marvel character in the last couple of years that Sony has gotten to work on any level where they aren't getting their hand held by Marvel Studios. While the first film got a critical beating, it did go on to make over $800 million at the worldwide box office, and even those who didn't like the movie were praising the absolutely buckwild performance that star Tom Hardy presented to the world. When you make $800 million, the reviews don't matter much, and we got a sequel called Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Unfortunately for this film, it got caught up in all of the COVID delays, and after six different delays, the film made it to the big screen on October 1, 2021. While the critical reception was a little better, the film underperformed a little and made just over $500 million worldwide. However, considering the circumstances, that is a pretty decent number, and by April 2022, Sony Pictures confirmed that Venom 3 was in the works. By October 2022, it was announced that Kelly Marcel, who had written the last two films, would make her directorial debut with the third film.

Venom 3 did have a July 12, 2024, release date but was delayed to November 8, 2024, due to the strikes over the summer. In November 2023, Hardy confirmed that filming for Venom 3 had resumed. The film will be the third Sony/Marvel film released in 2024, with Madame Web in February, Kraven The Hunter in August, and Venom 3 wrapping up the year in November 2024.
