A Violin Battles A Trumpet: John Cena Vs Shinsuke Nakamura
SmackDown has the privilege of having some wildly talented performers on its roster. Two of those performers just happen to be fighting for a chance to go against Jinder Mahal at Summer Slam: John Cena and Shinsuke Nakamura. I happen to like both wrestlers, so no matter who won, I'd be happy — but I am slightly more biased toward Nakamura. He deserves the title, and ultimately, he came out on top.
Cena took charge against Nakamura, who was calm and collected. The two are evenly matched, though Nakamura's ring antics were a little weird for Cena. After flipping and untwisting himself from an arm lock providing by Cena, Nakamura attempted to put Cena in a headlock. Cena broke free, but Nakamura's quick kicks took Cena down.
Cena got the first pin, but Nakamura kicked out. The two were relentless, with Cena relying on body slams and brute strength, and Nakamura using his quick kicks and buckle attacks. Nakamura got Cena into a triangle headlock, but Cena was having none of it, lifting Namaura up, and ultimately getting face busted into the mat by Nakamura.
The two went back and forth with head and arm locks in a dramatic display. Body slams, locks, and a final dramatic kick to Cena's face secured Nakamura's place against Mahal at Summer Slam. He absolutely deserves this win, here's hoping he goes all the way. Cena took the loss well, and congratulated and celebrated Nakamura's win, which is always wonderful to see.
