Zachary Levi Is "Honored And Completely Humbled" To Take On The Role In Shazam
Zachary Levi has joined the cast of Shazam! and he took to instagram to talk about the release and post a bit of fan art showing what he might look like in the role.
Honored and greatly humbled to be a part of the #dcuniverse by bringing the original Captain Marvel to life. I am beside myself with gratitude, not only for this opportunity, but also the incredible outpouring of love and support from so many of you out there in the world. There is a pretty good chance that he won't be called Captain Marvel in the movie despite that being his name. Director David F. Sandberg has pointed out that there is a big complication in all of that.
There isn't much they can do about it at this stage in the game because it's all copyright laws and who owns what IP. So fans can scream all they want about this but there probably isn't a way around it that isn't going to end with Marvel producing a piece of paper that says "we own the Captain Marvel trademark".
Shazam!, directed by Sandberg, stars Zachary Levi and will be written by Henry Gayden It will be released on April 5th, 2019.
