'Locke & Key': 'It' Actor Owen Teague Set For Hulu Series Adaptation
Director Andy Muschetti's It reunion continues rolling along, as Owen Teague (Bloodline) has been tapped to join the cast of Locke & Key, Hulu's one-hour horror/fantasy drama adaptation of the IDW comic by Joe Hill and artist Gabriel Rodriguez. Teague will be joining previously announced castmates Frances O'Connor; fellow It actors Megan Charpentier and Jackson Robert Scott; Nate Corddry, Jack Mulhern and Danny Glover. Hill will be adapting his own work to series, with Muschietti directing.
Teague will be taking on the role of Sam Lesser, a violent and deeply troubled adolescent who was a student at Tyler Locke's (Mulhern) school in San Francisco. He would kill his own father and go on to attack the Locke Family, killing Rendell and assaulting Nina (O'Connor). Sam would continue to plague the family through most of the series' run.
A heart-wrenching and horrific take on the "haunted house" genre, here's an overview of the series:
Following their father's gruesome murder in a violent home invasion, the Locke children return to his childhood home of Keyhouse in secluded Lovecraft, Massachusetts. Their mother, Nina, is too trapped in her grief—and a wine bottle—to notice that all in Keyhouse is not what it seems: too many locked doors, too many unanswered questions. Older kids Tyler (Mulhern) and Kinsey (Charpentier) aren't much better. But not youngest son Bode (Scott), who quickly finds a new friend living in an empty well and a new toy, a key, that offers hours of spirited entertainment. But again, all at Keyhouse is not what it seems, and not all doors are meant to be opened. Soon, horrors old and new, real and imagined, will come ravening after the Lockes and the secrets their family holds.
Corddry is set to play the Locke children's protective uncle Duncan, who harbors his own secrets; and Glover has been cast as English teacher Joe Ridgeway, eccentric mentor to Tyler.
Hill and Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) are shepherding Locke & Key with IDW Entertainment. Cuse is serving as showrunner and executive-producing the pilot with Hill, Barbara Muschietti, Lindsey Springer, Ted Adams and David Ozer of IDW Entertainment; and David Alpert and Rick Jacobs from Circle of Confusion.
