Arrow Season 6: It's a Wonderful Vigilante

I think we finally have a good idea of why Stephen Amell is in so many scenes during the 18th episode of Arrow season 6. The actor said in a Facebook video that it was the most scenes he had been in since the early days of the show, appearing in what he estimated as 52 of 55 scenes. That is quite a lot, even for the top name on the call sheet. There has also been a few photos of Amell dressed in the first costume back when he was called the Vigilante and the Hood. The one below Amell posted himself.

What could explain him rocking the old-school gear and showing up so much in an episode? The recently released synopsis gives us a good hint.

"Fundamentals"

OLIVER IS VISITED BY A GHOST FROM HIS PAST —  In his darkest place yet, Oliver (Stephen Amell) wonders if he has failed at everything – being a father, a mayor and a hero. His frustration rising, Oliver lashes out at Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and William (guest star Jack Moore). A surprising visit from an old friend has Oliver questioning his next move. Ben Bray directed the episode written by Speed Weed & Emilio Ortega Aldrich (#618).  Original airdate 4/12/2018.

This sounds like a classic Christmas Carol or It's a Wonderful Life episode where the protagonist gets to see what would happen if he never existed. Now I doubt this is going to be a straightforward, ghost-comes-to-see-him type of episode. But then again you never know — we got a Matrix type story for the 100th episode. When you're in your sixth season and the odds of a seventh are strong, you can pretty much do what you want.

Arrow returns on March 29th at 9 p.m. ET on the CW. 'Fundamentals' will air on April 12th.
