The CW Renews 10 Series Including Arrow, The Flash, Supernatural, and Riverdale
The word fans have been waiting for has finally come. The CW has announced that it's renewing 10 shows for their 2018-2019 season. This includes the freshman series, Dynasty, that had slipped down to a 0.1 demo rating but since bounced back with the introduction of Nicollette Sheridan as Alexis. Among the shows being renewed are the superhero series Arrow, The Flash, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl and Black Lightning. Supernatural, Riverdale, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Jane the Virgin round out the list.
That means that over 80% of the new season is locked in with them adding two hours of programming on Sunday nights starting this fall. CW President Mark Pedowitz talked about the renewals in the statement:
As The CW expands to a six-night, Sunday through Friday schedule next season, we are proud to have such a deep bench of great returning series for 2018-19. By picking these 10 series up for next season, we have a terrific selection of programming to choose from when we set our fall schedule in May, with more still to come.
Supernatural returns for its record 14th season, the longest-running series in the network's history. Arrow returns for its seventh season, The Flash and Jane the Virgin will be on their 5th, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend all are back for a fourth time, while Black Lightning and Dynasty return for their second seasons.
The fate of spring series like iZombie, The 100, and Life Sentence are too soon to tell… but I wouldn't bet on Life Sentence.
