Marvel's Loki Series Brings on Michael Waldron as the Showrunner
The Disney+ Marvel series' are making another step forward in becoming a reality. No one was that surprised when Disney and Marvel announced that they were bringing the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the Disney+ streaming platform. What did surprise people, however, was the characters that they were going to focus on. Unlike other Marvel TV shows which have had almost no crossover with the movies, save for Agent Coulson, these shows would bring movie characters to the small screen.
One of those character shows is a show based on Loki with Tom Hiddleston expected to return. According to The Hollywood Reporter, they have brought on Michael Waldon as a showrunner. He is set to write the pilot, act as the show creator, and executive produce. THR also has some brief details about what the plot of the show could be about.
Sources say the show will follow Loki as the trickster and shapeshifter pops up throughout human history as unlikely influencer on historical events.
That summary makes it sound like this is going to take place before Loki met his end at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. If this show is just a mini-series of Loki bouncing around the timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe screwing with people, that could be a lot of fun.
Marvel and Disney have no comment on the announcement or story details.
There are two other Disney+ shows that are in the works; one focused on Vision and Scarlet Witch and the other focused on Falcon and the Winter Soldier. All of these shows are set to premiere on the Disney+ streaming service which is set to launch later this year.
