Seann William Scott Added as Fox Renews Lethal Weapon

We'd heard this week that producers on Lethal Weapon had fired Clayne Crawford after reports of inappropriate work place behavior and creating an unsafe work environment surfaced. The series had been expected to be renewed when the move happened and finding a new lead to play opposite of Damon Wayans became crucial if the series was going to continue. Enter American Pie alum Seann William Scott, who according to Variety, will be playing a new character that will be teamed with Detective Murtaugh (Wayans). And with his casting the series will be back for a third season.

Michael Thorn, president of entertainment of Fox Broadcasting said in a statement:

Seann is a fantastic addition to this already amazing cast. 'Lethal Weapon' is packed with action, drama and pure fun and we can't wait to see Damon and Seann together on screen. Matt Miller, his incredible team and everyone at Warner Bros. have been tremendous partners, and we're thrilled to bring this show back for another season.

This will be the first time Scott has been a regular on a television series. The actor is best know for his roles in the American Pie franchise, the Goon films and Dude, Where's My Car. Scott joins a cast that, besides Wayans, also stars Keesha Sharp, Kevin Rahm, Jordana Brewster, Johnathan Fernandez, Dante Brown, Chandler Kinney, and Michelle Mitchenor.
