Showtime Sets Premiere Date for 'Our Cartoon President'
Showtime's new half-hour comedy series, Our Cartoon President, will premier on February 11th at 8 p.m. just prior to the season 7 premiere of Homeland at 9 p.m. The new series from Stephen Colbert and Chris Licht will get an early preview on January 28th on multiple online platforms and on demand just prior to Donald Trump's first State of the Union address on January 30th. The premium cable network gave the series that takes a satirical look at the 45th President's administration, a 10-episode order back in July.
The series spun out of the popular animated Donald Trump appearances on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and the Showtime's Election Night Special… Stephen Colbert's Live Election Night Democracy's Series Finale: Who's Going to Clean This Sh*t?
Showtime describes the series:
Our Cartoon President opens the White House doors for an "all access" look at a typical day in Trump's world, examining quintessentially Trumpian details of the presidency and his most important relationships. It's a world in which no one is safe, from close family and confidants to key political figures of both parties and members of the media.
Showtime hired R.J. Fried as showrunner. Fried's credits include The Late Show with David Letterman, Triumph's Election Special 2016, Night of Too Many Stars, Rob & Big. Tim Luecke, who co-created the Late Show version of Animated Trump, will serve as lead animator.
