WWE Smackdown Preview: Survivor's Guilt Edition

After layoffs once again rocked the WWE Universe to its foundations, the show must go on, and so WWE Smackdown airs tonight at 8PM Eastern on Fox, and WWE has some plans with what's left of its roster. Here's what's happening on WWE Smackdown tonight.

First of all, Smackdown this week will feature another tag team title match. This time, the Dirty Dawgs will defend the Smackdown Tag Team Championships against the Street Profits in a one-on-one match. Will the Profits prevail this time? Sure, why do a title change at WrestleMania when you can do it on Smackdown the next week, right?! Here's what WWE.com has to say about it:

Robert Roode & Dolph Ziggler cunningly staved off three other teams last week to preserve the SmackDown Tag Team Titles. Will The Dirty Dawgs be as lucky when they defend against former champions The Street Profits this Friday night?

Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins appeared to be on the cusp of recapturing the titles in a chaotic Fatal 4-Way Match last week that also involved Chad Gable & Otis and Rey Mysterio & Dominik. Ford hit a sky-high frog splash on Gable, only to be blindly tagged by Roode before eating a huge superkick from Ziggler, and Roode opportunistically pinned Gable.

The Street Profits have relentlessly looked to reclaim the gold they lost three months ago. Is Friday the night they break through? Or will Roode & Ziggler again find a way to victory?

But if you were worried that you wouldn't fully get to experience the same matchups from WrestleMania again this Friday, fear not. The other two tag teams from that Fatal Four-Way, Rey and Dominik Mysterio and Alpha Academy, will also square off on Smackdown tonight for a shot at whoever wins the Dirty Dawgs vs. Street Profits match. Phew! Thank goodness WWE cut all that dead weight this week so they can finally get down to… telling the same stories over and over with a still bloated roster of people no one cares about because WWE booked them so shittily for years.
