The Original Sins Of Nick Fury
Only one Original Sin comic book today, but it happens to be Original Sin #5 and has one hell of a revelation about Nick Fury. So, you know, spoilers and things.
Because this is not the first time Marvel has given away big new S.H.I.E.L.D secrets of late. First Secret Warriors, which showed us that Hydra had infiltrated the echelons of S.H.I.E.L.D and had done for decades – a plot that Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D took on.
Then the series Shield revealed a history to the organisation going back centuries and using familiar historical figures such as Isaac Newton in prominent action-adventure roles.
And in Original Sin, they are doing it all over again. As well as tying in with other recently revealed Original Sin secrets…
We get to discover what Nick Fury does on the weekend when he's not being Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. He's not just head of the superspies. He's a proper cosmic assassin working for the bigger picture on the weekend. And always has been, for the history of the modern Marvel Universe.
And so, yes, he's the bloke who's been killing big monsters, planets and whatnot. And possibly the Watcher? More to be revealed of course….
