Will No One Think About Poor Geoff Johns?
Will Geoff Johns get creator equity participation for the creation of Darkseid's Daughter?
Appearing in this week's Justice League, and getting a full appearance in tomorrow's Free Comic Book Day title Divergence, her story has been behind the whole of the New 52 since Justice League #1, pursued by Darkseid across dimensions.
Tomorrow you will see her birth, know the circumstances of it, and see her as a grown adult. You even learn her name.
But will DC's Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns see the benefit? Because if Power Girl is considered a derivative character and therefore not liable for Gerry Conway to receive payment for her use in TV, toys, games and movies, then surely Darkseid's daughter would also fall into that trap.
After all, she's Darkseid's daughter, so that;s derivative. Also, as rebellious daughters of a transdimensional warlord go, she also seems to shop in the same clothes store as Raven.
We simply can't see Geoff Johns in poverty. We must demand that Darkseid's daughter be eligible for such payments. Because if Darkseid's daughter is, then Power Girl most definitely will have to be.
Think of the royalties he would get for all those Orange Lanterns or Red Lanterns or Puce Lanterns if they weren't at all just derivative of Alan Scott?
We really don't ant to see Geoff Johns in penury… or anyone else.
