Pillars of Eternity II Reaches $3M
Today the campaign for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire has reached 279% of their original crowdfunding goal by hitting $3M. Along with this stretch, they've also hit 26K backers, which is the most of any game in the past 12 months. Deadfire has now joined the ranks of Psychonauts 2 and Wasteland 3 in achieving a crowdfunding goal of $3Million within the last fifteen months. It's worth noting that all three games – Pillars, Psychonauts, and Wasteland – are all being funded through the Fig.co crowdfunding and investment platform which is great news for Fig.
Along with hitting the $3M mark, the development team at Obsidian has announced that the goal for companion relationships has been met. The next mark is $3.25M for sidekicks – which would allow 4 different sidekicks to travel with you as you journey around Eora. Sidekicks is the last stretch goal available on the campaign site, though when I spoke with game director Josh Sawyer he hinted that the stretch goal he most wanted to hit has yet to be seen. His hope for all the different language options seems to have been met as have the subclasses and level cap goals.
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire has only 3 days and 2 hours left on its campaign as of press time, so if you want in on the action, you've only got a few days to act. The campaign can be found here.
